Hunter Acrylic /
Mixed Media Painter
Hunter is thirteen years old. He has been
painting since he was seven and creating line drawing since he was
four.
For his show last year at The Blue Wing Gallery,
Hunter painted funny characters and well known super heroes. His
primary inspiration was vintage and current day cartoons. Now,
however most of his funny characters are his own creations inspired
by his crazy imagination. His technically abilities have grown and
with this added confidence Hunter is painting on larger canvases.
His paintings are more interesting now; they include visual movement
not only in the application of paint but also in the depiction of
his characters in outrageous situations. One such paintings shows a
kid floating away with his bubblegum, another painting is of a guy
taking a wild ride on a walrus. Hunters is also experimenting with
new mediums, he is adding spray paint to the acrylic for added
depth. He likes the difference it creates, setting his new work
apart from his earlier paintings. In addition to creating original
characters and adding different medium Hunter is branching out in
his subject matter. We will exhibit some of his pieces that include
images of the Golden Gate Bridge and buildings inspired by Japanese
and Russian architecture.
Hunter’s love of art doesn’t stop
at creating his own paintings he enjoys teaching other kids to love
art too. He helps his mother Dana with the art class after school
where he encourages the kids to be original and to come up with
their own characters.
Rebecca Bresnick Holmes Potter /
Ceramic Artist
I create pottery and other ceramic art because
I love the process of creating those objects as much as the finished
objects themselves. Often the process turns out to be more valuable
than the finished work. In addition to the process of creating the
work, I love that the finished piece is something touchable and
(fairly) durable and permanent – made by one person’s hands, to be
touched or used by many others.
Since childhood, I have been
drawn to clay and pottery, but once I got my hands on clay in my
twenties, I knew that it was something I was going to do for the
rest of my life. Since then, I have been influenced by many people,
places, and styles. My time in Spain has proved to be very
influential in both my form and colors, as has (more recently)
working alongside a sculptor.
My current work includes
functional pottery, garden art, and pieces that can be displayed
indoors or out. The planters are examples of my work that
incorporate many parts of my creative process: they are thrown, cut,
altered, stamped and/or carved, sometimes added to, and glazed. The
collection of work here represents a broad variety of my work – from
functional to purely decorative (and often both). Enjoy them!
Rebecca Casey Clay Sculptor Artist Rebecca Casey grew up
in Palo Alto, California. Creativity and a passion for art were
always at the core of her world. She continuously pursued classes
and instruction in various mediums while raising a family and
managing a service bureau providing designs to companies in "Silicon
Valley". Rebecca moved to the serene Sierra foothills and left
the industrial life behind. She set up a studio and began
experimenting with sculptures in wax and pewter. And then she
discovered clay; the perfect medium for her light hearted, whimsical
characters, birds, insects, and fish. She also created a line of
“Arty Guys” her one of kind jesters that have articulating limbs.
The sweet expressions and wonderful colors always work well with the
unique names she gives them. Rebecca is a favorite at the Blue Wing
gallery, our customers have come to recognize her work and flock to
the gallery to see her latest creations.
Rebecca explains a
bit about her inspiration. “A child sees through eyes untouched by
the reality of today’s complex world. As an adult, we take little
time to revisit the uncomplicated feelings and experiences of our
youth. In all my pieces I try to inject a bit of humor, hoping to
rekindle that child with a visual experience”
Vic Vicini
Painter / Printmaker
Vic Vicini was born in 1957 in Detroit,
Michigan. Both his parents were immigrants from one of the oldest
Republics in the world, San Marino, Italy. This independent country
is rich in culture and tradition.
After high school, Vic
attended Ferris State University for two years and studied Public
Health with an emphasis in Entomology. However, after two years
he returned home and attended Wayne State University, where he
discovered his real passion and love; art. He later received a BFA
in painting and printmaking. Vic produced a number of etchings and
specialized in engravings and the art of lithography early in his
career, and thoroughly enjoying the science behind the art. In
the 1990’s, Vic had the opportunity to meet Robert Vickrey, perhaps
one of the nation’s top egg tempera painters next to Andrew Wyeth.
Vickrey’s work played a major influence in Vic’s development in
painting, and for a number of years, Vic also produced egg tempera
art and exhibited in several one person shows.
Vic was
heavily influenced by the wonderful color and detail of the work
by Richard Estes and Charles Bell, two photo realist painters. Such
realist painters continued to influence his work today and play a
major role in Vic’s development. He exhibits throughout the
Midwest and has received many awards for his paintings and prints.
Vic resides in Livonia, Michigan with his wife, Cynthia Lou. ”
